We were honored to host Laura Kaufman for an enriching day of Mahamudra practice and teachings at Pawo Khandro Ling. The event brought together fifteen practitioners eager to deepen their understanding of this profound meditation lineage of the Karma Kagyu tradition.
Laura, who brings over 50 years of Buddhist meditation experience, shared invaluable insights from her extensive training with renowned teachers including Khenpo Tsultrim Gyamtso Rinpoche, Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche, and Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche. Her background as an early student of Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche and completion of a traditional three-year retreat at Sopa Choling, Gampo Abbey, provided a rich foundation for her teachings.
The day began with a comprehensive overview of the Mahamudra path, followed by guided practice sessions focusing on both shamatha and vipashyana techniques specific to the Mahamudra tradition. Participants maintained noble silence during lunch, creating a contemplative atmosphere that enhanced the day's practice.
Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing how Laura's clear instruction and guidance deepened their understanding of Mahamudra practice. Participants particularly appreciated receiving practical steps for incorporating Mahamudra techniques into their daily meditation practice.
Given the success of this event and strong interest from the community, we look forward to potentially hosting Laura again for future practice sessions at the Wisdom Seat.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Laura Kaufman for sharing these precious teachings and to all participants who helped create such a meaningful practice environment.
