A return to live events!
We were honored to host Khentrul Lodro Thaye Rinpoche over the extended Labor Day weekend of 2022. Rinpoche is touring the country to celebrate the publication of his first book, THE POWER OF MIND, and The Wisdom Seat was fortunate to break our long sabbatical from live events with Khentrul Rinpoche’s public talk at the Swarthmore Meeting House on September 1st.
Attended by students and professors from Swarthmore, Rinpoche’s local sangha, and many of our own Wisdom Seat members, as well as all the participants who streamed the event live, it was a warm, friendly and profound experience for everyone.
Accompanied by his excellent translator, Paloma Landrey, Rinpoche stayed at the home of Michael Carroll and Suzanna Lack, and many of the Wisdom Seat members who helped to make the talk possible, and to support his visit, had the good fortune to spend relaxed time with him over the next few days.
On Friday, Sept. 2, a few of us spent the morning touring Longwood Gardens with Rinpoche and Paloma.
On Saturday, Wisdom Seat hosted a reception for Rinpoche's local sangha.
This provided not only an opportunity for an impromptu teaching on the patio, but also an opportunity for the two communities to get to know one another.
The entire visit was run by Wisdom Seat volunteers, who started their collaboration months ahead with the leadership of Jacqui Merrell, who was instrumental in inviting and organizing the trip, and every founder and member of the board chipped in and made the entire visit uplifting and an opportunity to experience the dharma through the environment, the teacher, the sangha, and the teachings.
Thank you to all the volunteers who worked hard to make these events possible.
Here is a short video show just some of the volunteers.
It was great for everyone to get back to seeing a teacher IRL and allowing the community to be online or live as we did what we do best - provided a seat for an authentic teacher.
